Acton, California

Acton is located in Los Angeles County just 50 miles north of downtown Los Angeles. Although close enough to a big city, Acton is some country living at it’s finest! Nestled in between the San Gabriel Mountains and the Sespe Condor Sanctuary provides Acton with four seasons, including a warm Mediterranean climate in the summer months.

Acton was originally founded as a mining town in the late 1800’s. Gold, silver, and copper kept the town booimgThis fact has contributed to small town western feel Acton has.

California has 40 districts, and Acton is part of the 21st District, which is represented by Senator Scott Wilk.

There are many enjoyable things to do in Acton. Take a stroll back in history and visit the 49er Bar & Grill, the first saloon founded during the mining days in 1889.  Still in operation over 125 years late,r, it was one of the restaurants to check out. Located in the mountains, there are outdoor activities to engage in adventure in, as well as RV parks for camping, and the well known Shambala Reserve.

The Shambala Reserve, founded by Tippi Hendren, is space dedicated to providing a sanctuary and safe home to exotic felines who have experienced life other than they should. Exotic animal private ownership is very more popular than many are aware of. The trading and selling of exotic cats is a very big business. Once a cat is rescued and brought to Shambala, it stays in this sanctuary reserve, where it is fed, nourished, and treated as it should be for the rest of it’s life.
